How to put multiple PDF pages on one sheet

  1. Choose a PDF

    Choose a PDF or drop it onto the page. The file stays inside this browser tab.

  2. Choose the print job

    Use N-up for several source pages per sheet, Booklet for folded reading order, or Poster to spread one source page across several sheets.

  3. Check the sheet map

    The first output side shows its page positions. Booklet mode also lists the front and back imposition order before the file is written.

  4. Download the checked layout

    The output is reopened. Its sheet count, sheet geometry and original selectable text must pass before the download appears.

Booklet output is arranged as front and back sheet sides. Print duplex and flip on the short edge unless your printer uses different wording. Fold the sheets after printing. Poster output includes the overlap you choose, so adjacent sheets can be trimmed and aligned. The sheet map shows which source page lands where on the first side, so you can verify the order before you commit paper.

Interactive annotations are separate from page content. Links, comments and field widgets do not carry into imposed sheets. Flatten the PDF first when a field value or visible comment must become permanent. For a form that needs its answers locked before imposition, run Flatten PDF first.

When to impose a PDF

N-up is the everyday case for saving paper: print a 4-page handout as 2-up double-sided and it fits on one sheet. Booklet imposition turns a long document into a stapled or saddle-stitched pamphlet, with pages ordered for folding so the reader sees them in sequence. Poster tiling splits a single large page across several sheets that can be trimmed and assembled into a wall-sized print.

A conference program printed as a booklet, a choir sheet imposed 4-up to save copies, a flyer spread across four A3 sheets for a window display: each is an imposition job. Before imposing, settle the page order with Organize pages and add any cover or blank pages the layout needs. To merge several PDFs into one before imposing, use Merge PDF. To check that the imposed output will print cleanly, run Print preflight on the result.

Should I fix page order before imposing?

An imposition is only as good as the page order it receives, so settle the order before you tile. Add pages to a PDF covers inserting a cover or a blank so a booklet starts on the correct side, and Split a PDF into separate files covers cutting a long document into parts you can print one at a time.

Questions about N-up and booklet PDFs

Does the output keep selectable text?
Yes. Source pages are embedded as PDF content. They are not rendered into page images. The result is reopened and its source text must still be present.
What N-up layouts are available?
Choose 2, 4, 6, 8, 9 or 16 source pages per sheet, with across-then-down or down-then-across order.
How does booklet order work?
Pages are imposed as front and back pairs for folding. Each signature is padded to a multiple of four pages: the sheet map shows Blank tiles where padding lands, and the final count after the run.
Can one PDF page be printed as a large poster?
Yes. Choose the source page, scale and sheet overlap. The tool clips the PDF page across the required sheets without taking a screenshot.
Do form fields, links and comments carry into the new sheets?
No. Their page appearance may be visible in the source content, but interactive annotation objects do not travel through page embedding. The tool detects them and asks for confirmation. Flatten the PDF first when those appearances matter.
Does N-up conversion upload my PDF?
No. Layout, writing and verification run in this browser tab. usage data events carry only action names, counts, sizes, durations and the chosen settings, never file contents.
Can I impose a booklet from several PDFs?
Merge the PDFs first with Merge PDF, then impose the combined file. The booklet order needs a single page sequence to work correctly.
What paper sizes does it support?
Choose the output sheet size before the run: US Letter, A4, A3 or US Legal, in portrait or landscape. Source pages are scaled to fit inside the sheet cells.
