pdfmonks vs Online2PDF

Online2PDF publishes its limits, which almost no free tool does: 150 megabytes per file, 200 megabytes in total, up to 30 files, 500 pages without text recognition and 100 with it. Its ceiling is a server. The pdfmonks ceiling is your own device memory, which is looser on a laptop and tighter on an old phone.

The numbers Online2PDF prints

Its front page at online2pdf.com states that the maximum file size is 150 megabytes, that all files together must not exceed 200 megabytes, and that you can select up to 30 files. Page limits are 500 without text recognition and 100 with it. Checked 10 September 2026.

Publishing those numbers is the right behaviour and worth crediting. Most free tools name a restriction without a value, so you find the wall by hitting it. Online2PDF tells you where the wall is before you start.

The limits on the pdfmonks side

pdfmonks has no server, so there is no plan ceiling. The real limits are your device memory and two hard caps in the code. Page export refuses a page over forty million pixels, and redaction caps its raster work at 4096 by 4096 pixels per page.

In practice a large scanned bundle is limited by how much memory the tab can hold, and a phone gives up earlier than a laptop. That is a worse answer than a published number, so this page names it rather than claiming pdfmonks has no limits.

Batch work

Thirty files in one run is a real advantage. Online2PDF is built for batch conversion and merging, and it will beat a browser tab on a folder of documents every time. If that is the job, use it.

pdfmonks works one file at a time, except merge, which needs at least two inputs and joins as many as you give it, and images to PDF, which takes a set of images and lays them out as pages.

What each does with the file

Online2PDF states that uploaded files are never saved and that all data is deleted after conversion. That is a good policy, clearly written, and it still means the document travels to its servers, is processed there and depends on that promise being kept. Converted files stay available for download for up to 90 seconds, then are securely deleted. Transfers run over HTTPS only, and there is no desktop version or API; scripts and heavy use are not allowed.

pdfmonks does the work in the tab, so there is no transfer and no promise required. That matters for the documents where the answer to who else touched this needs to be nobody: medical letters, legal drafts, anything with a national identifier in it.

Choosing

Batch conversion, thirty files, or a format pdfmonks does not handle: Online2PDF. A single file that must not leave the machine, an exact size target, or a result you want checked in front of you: pdfmonks.

The PDF24 comparison covers the other large free suite with a desktop build, and the converter roundup is the page to read if the job is a format change rather than a file change.

The short answer

Online2PDF is unusually honest: it prints its limits. A published server ceiling beats an unpublished one, and it beats a laptop when the job is thirty files at once. For a single sensitive file, the browser wins.

Questions people ask

What is the Online2PDF file size limit?
Its front page states 150 megabytes per file, 200 megabytes for all files together, and up to 30 files per run, checked 10 September 2026. Page limits are 500 pages without text recognition and 100 pages with it.
Does pdfmonks have an upload size limit?
There is no upload, so there is no server limit. The ceiling is your device memory, plus two code caps: page export refuses a page over forty million pixels, and redaction rasterises at most 4096 by 4096 pixels per page.
Can I use Online2PDF from a script?
No. There is no API and no desktop version; scripts and heavy use are not allowed. For repeatable batch work, a local tool beats an upload form.
Can I merge thirty PDFs in pdfmonks?
Merge takes as many files as you add and needs at least two. It refuses encrypted inputs, flags interactive form or signature fields, and checks page count, exact per-page text and page geometry before the download appears.
